COPENHELL Rock Academy
COPENHELL Rock Academy is an annual event that focuses on diversity in the Danish music industry and rock and metal culture. The event invites girls and gender minorities aged 13-19 to experience a weekend full of industry insights, workshops, concerts, community and networking with different perspectives on the opportunities within the music industry.
COPENHELL sees a huge opportunity to help create an open space for young women and other gender minorities who want to find their way into the rock and metal scene. Whether as musicians or in one of the many roles behind the stage, COPENHELL wants to highlight that this world is open to everyone, no matter who you are.
COPENHELL Rock Academy gives participants insight into several branches of the music industry and sparks their appetite to keep exploring whatever interests them most.
COPENHELL Rock Academy 2025 was held in November 2025. 18 participants stepped into something completely new without knowing each other, but with open hearts and room for community. It takes courage to put yourself out there, courage to try and courage to become part of something new. And they did exactly that – with a strength, warmth, and curiosity that hit us straight in the heart.
Thank you to Anni Klitmøller, who opened the door to lighting design and gave the participants a chance to experience how creativity also unfolds behind the stage: an important reminder that there are many ways into music, and that every single function at a venue is part of the live experience.
Thank you to Heidi and Rikke from the band Konvent, whose Q&A gave the participants an honest and powerful insight into life as a band. You shared your journey to the stage – the challenges, the solidarity, and the joy – and you created a safe space where every question was welcome. Your honesty, authenticity and power made a huge impression and showed the young participants what courage and passion can lead to.
Thank you to Paula Befrits, who taught vocal techniques and gave the participants the tools to find, use and take care of their voice. Your advice and energy gave the young people confidence – and a hunger for more.
Thank you to Ditte Krøyer, whose story about her journey into music inspired and moved many. Your words about doubt, courage, joy and love for music left a mark on the participants – and you became a role model who showed that passion is the strongest driving force of all.
COPENHELL Rock Academy is about more than music. It’s about discovering yourself, daring to stand by your voice – and finding communities where you can grow.
COPENHELL Rock Academy is made possible with support from the City of Copenhagen – a huge thank-you for creating space for young talent and musical diversity.
