COPENHELL Rock Academy
What is COPENHELL Rock Academy?
We put the spotlight on diversity with an annual weekend for girls and other gender minorities aged 13-19, focusing on the music industry as well as rock and metal culture. COPENHELL Rock Academy creates the framework for new communities and builds a solid knowledge base for participants, inspiring them to explore the rock and metal scene together with other curious minds.
Here, our brave participants experience workshops, concerts, community and networking, all offering different perspectives on opportunities within the music industry.
Why do we run COPENHELL Rock Academy?
COPENHELL sees a great opportunity to help create an open space for young women and other gender minorities who want to find their way into the rock and metal scene. Whether as musicians or in one of the many roles behind the stage, COPENHELL wants to highlight that this is an opportunity for everyone, no matter who you are. COPENHELL Rock Academy gives participants insight into several branches of the music industry and sparks the appetite to continue working with exactly what interests them the most.
What do our former participants say?
- “Super awesome! I had never been to a metal concert before, so it was amazing to try.”
- “Meeting a lot of lovely new people and being in a place where you felt like you belonged.”
- “It’s really hard for me to choose. In the end, I think the best part of the whole weekend was that you could really feel that all the adults (both speakers and organizers) were super passionate about helping us on our way. I am absolutely convinced that when I reach out to them at some point in the future, I’ll get a really constructive and helpful response.”
- “I am incredibly grateful for my stay at Rock Academy. I feel like I’ve been given a huge head start in the scene.”
Should we visit your school, workplace, or afterschool program to tell you more?
We would love to stop by and give a presentation to your students. Here we can provide insight into what COPENHELL Rock Academy involves – and maybe some of the next participants will come from your school?

INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
(PLEASE NOTE THAT DANISH WILL BE THE LANGUAGE USED DURING COPENHELL ROCK ACADEMY.)
What are we doing during the weekend?
We start on Friday at 16:00, when you arrive and get settled at HUSET-KBH. After that, the COPENHELL team will introduce who we are, what we will be doing throughout the weekend and what Rock Academy is. Friday is spent getting to know each other and creating a safe space together. On Saturday, we have workshops – which can change from year to year. In 2024, for example, we held a lighting technician workshop that focused on lighting design during concerts.
We also had a great colleague from COPENHELL who shared their journey through the music industry and offered advice and opportunities worth seizing. A permanent feature of Rock Academy is also a workshop focusing on growling. Finally, we have been lucky to have the band Konvent, who has joined us for the past three years to share their experience as a band and talk about how they got to where they are today.
We wrap up Saturday with a concert, where all participants get a closer look into the band, the soundcheck and the opportunity to join the mosh pit in front of the stage. Sunday is for reflection, where we spend the morning getting feedback so we can continually improve Rock Academy and ensure that everyone has a good experience. We finish at 12:00 on Sunday.
When is it?
We host Rock Academy on the last weekend of November. In 2025, it will take place on November 21–23 at HUSET-KBH in Musikcaféen in Copenhagen. Throughout the entire weekend, three adults will be present, responsible for all participants.
Who can participate?
You can participate in Rock Academy once if you are a girl or another gender minority aged 13-19.
What is included?
All meals and accommodation are included. We stay at Danhostel by Langebro in shared dorms. The adults also stay there, but in a separate room. Transportation to and from Rock Academy is at your own expense.
