COPENHELL CON COMPLETES ITS STAGE ENTERTAINMENT WITH 8 EXTRA SHOWS

The COPENHELL Con stage programme is now complete with eight shows that will exercise your laugh muscles, tickle your grey matter, provoke and perhaps even shock you!

BLODBADSMASSAKREN (In Danish)

Step directly into an ’80s horror film – and become the main character yourself! In Blodbadsmassakren, the audience helps shape the story. Together, you make the c hoices that arise along the way, as a weekend trip to the Oregon woods in 1987 slowly descends into a classic slasher nightmare. The story is performed live on stage by Elias Eliot with intense sound design by Anders Due-Boje, and all decisions are made by the audience from their seats. But beware: one wrong choice can have bloody consequences. Blodbadsmassakren is an interactive tribute to ’80s horror films and the classic choose-your-own-adventure books – two things brought together on a stage for the very first time. It will be wild, bloody, terrifying – and a whole lot of fun!

THE TROLLS ARE COMING

The madhouse that is TROLLFEST, who must be considered the absolute pioneers of the enormously specific subgenre “genuine Norwegian Balkan metal”, are visiting COPENHELL Con. Over more than 20 years, the band has built their own singular musical universe of madness – both psychedelic and experimental. Their concept albums range wildly from the early records’ focus on drinking and trolls to the 2017 album Helluva, about a legendary demonic chicken attempting to take over the world, and the 2022 release Flamingo Overlord, in which a militant flamingo rules over an oppressive science fiction society. Expect a conversation that is – state-guaranteed – every bit as unhinged and unpredictable as the music itself!

SKRÆMT! – Fra The Hatman til Den Hvide Dame (In Danish)

SKRÆMT! is a weekly horror talk podcast packed with laughs and good frights. Together with hosts Nanna Lindhardt and Calisa Vincentzen (C.A. Wolters), the podcast delves into genuinely creepy and paranormal experiences from listeners and scours the internet for mysterious and frightening phenomena from around the world. At COPENHELL Con, the podcast brings listener accounts from people who have had a paranormal experience at the festival, and reads and discusses them live on stage.

DUNGEON SYNTH AND WEIRD FANTASY

Theo Zhykharyev from the band POWERPLANT joins the COPENHELL Con stage for a conversation about the influence of fantasy culture on his distinctive “dungeon punk” music – particularly “weird fantasy”, which typically blends the traditional fantasy genre with elements of horror and science fiction, among others. Expect a wide-ranging discussion covering everything from Magic the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons to Warhammer 40K and video games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, as the Ukrainian artist talks about the wealth of geeky inspirations behind his music.

DIABOLICAL COCKTAILS (In Danish)

Have you ever wondered what the underworld would taste like? Now’s your chance to find out! Together with COPENHELL Con host, historian and PhD in the history of witchcraft, Maria Østerby Elleby, we will be drinking our way through the world’s underworlds – from Lucifer’s tempting fall to Hel’s cold realm of the dead and the blood-red spheres of Hades. Through three diabolical cocktails and tales of demons, realms of the dead and apocalypses, we dive into humanity’s darkest fantasies about life after death. Expect mythology, creatures of the underworld, dark humour and cocktails inspired by hell itself. Practical note: Purchase a cocktail kit at the COPENHELL Con bar before the talk.

ZOMBIES: MYTER, MEDIER OG MIKROBER (In Danish)

With the film Night of the Living Dead, George R. Romero immortalised the flesh-eating undead in 1968. Long before that, the myth of the reanimated dead had made its way from Haiti’s voodoo religion into Western popular culture – and nature itself offers horrifying real-world examples of zombifying fungi and parasites. Together with anthropologist Inger Sjørslev, visual popular culture researcher Steen Ledet Christiansen and parasitologist and virologist Simone Nordstrand Gasque, we sink our teeth ravenously into the zombie as a phenomenon. We cover the historical origins, the various incarnations of the living dead across film, television and literature, and the horrifyingly hair-raising real examples found in nature.

COPENHELL ROCK ACADEMY (In Danish)

COPENHELL Con brings both organisers of and former participants in COPENHELL Rock Academy to the stage for a conversation about representation within heavy music genres. Topics will range from building relationships and believing that, as a young gender minority, you can find your own way into a music industry that can seem inaccessible and gatekept. Come and hear more about the young participants’ experiences with this weekend of workshops and networking, and how it has helped them move forward with their music.

BRAAAAINS! — DEN ULTIMATIVE ZOMBIEFILMQUIZ

You don’t need to be a necromancer or a putrefying corpse to take part in the big zombie quiz at COPENHELL Con. But if you happen to know that Seoul Station is teeming with zombies, that it takes 28 days to lay waste to London with a rage virus, or that Barbara had better watch herself when she visits the cemetery – then come and quiz with us! There will be rot and ruin in abundance, fast-running and foot-dragging cadavers, and plenty of people who have risen from the grave. It’s going to be absolutely brain-dead! The quiz is hosted via Kahoot, so have the app ready!

See you at COPENHELL Con – you can find us to the left of the Pandæmonium stage, and everyone at COPENHELL is invited to join us for lots of stage shows, activities and relaxation.
