WHEN COPENHELL FREEZES OVER 2026
VEGA and COPENHELL present the six bands playing at When COPENHELL Freezes Over 2026: Who will make the next big breakthrough?
On January 31st, VEGA transforms into the epicenter of the next wave of rock and metal when When COPENHELL Freezes Over 2026 opens the gates to Store VEGA. Two stages will showcase the very best of the heavy Danish music scene right now: TROLD, ST. DIGUE, SUNKEN, DANEFAE, THUS and COLD CULTURE.
For the 11th time, COPENHELL and VEGA present six Danish bands that they believe have the potential to break far beyond the country’s borders. With a strong focus on nurturing upcoming acts, COPENHELL and VEGA have worked together to build the launchpad that has helped propel names such as BAEST, EYES and Neckbreakker out into the international scene.
The six new bands will be playing on home turf at VEGA and in collaboration with MXD, a highly competent group of international industry professionals has been invited – record labels, managements, booking agents, international festivals and other key players from the European rock and metal scene – all of whom will experience the bands alongside a headbanging audience. The Danish metal scene is still growing rapidly, the quality is sky-high and time after time, Danish bands prove their ability to cross borders and achieve international status – and now it’s time to show it off!
At the 2026 edition of When COPENHELL Freezes Over, you can experience:
TROLD
TROLD is not just a band – they are a living fairytale. Their music is forged from bark, blood and booming tones, rising from the soil with instruments in hand and laughter in their hearts. This is folk metal with horns both on the forehead and in the air, delivering epic stories with a twinkle in the eye and foam in the beard.
ST. DIGUE
With their unique blend of electronic darkwave and industrial rock, ST. DIGUE has been sending shockwaves through Copenhagen’s underground since 2020. Armed with painterly synthesizers, pounding drum machines and primal screams, the group paints a vivid and brutal picture of trauma, alienation and self-destruction.
SUNKEN
The atmospheric black metal band SUNKEN has been unfolding their dark and melancholic soundscapes since 2012. Their sound shifts between the violent and the ethereal, earning them a strong reputation for their intense, emotional expression – and their all-consuming and immersive live shows.
DANEFAE
Calling DANEFAE “distinctive” is probably an understatement. With one foot in Danish folk tradition and the other in modern progressive rock, it’s not a sound that you will hear many other places on the planet. At times explosive, at others offering small openings into the intimate and quiet – but always delivered with deep sincerity and immersion.
THUS
Protect your eardrums – here comes THUS: a brand-new andbattle-ready metal band from Aarhus that challenges the conventions of the Danish metal scene with progressive riffs, complex rhythms and melancholic melodies in an original, modern take on Scandinavian death metal.
COLD CULTURE
The fast-rising Danish band COLD CULTURE has shaken the post-hardcore foundation at home with their unique electronic-infused approach to heavy music. They broke through with their debut EP Afterthoughts in 2023, and with a rapidly growing fanbase and a reputation for delivering intense, emotional music, they are well on their way to becoming a prominent name on the metal scene.
