N/AMaryland rock quartet CLUTCH has stubbornly stuck together since 1991, and their music is just as stubborn: a singular brand of rock that twists and turns and refuses to be chained to any genre. It has the speed of hardcore punk, the weight of retro metal, a strong blues foundation in the riffs and singer Neil Fallon out front, who, with a preacher’s conviction, sings about everything from conspiracy theories and biblical prophets to gearboxes and aliens.
Their catalogue counts 13 releases, from Transnational Speedway League in 1993 to Sunrise on Slaughter Beach in 2022. Since 2008, the band has released music on their own label, Weathermaker Music, which in practice means that nobody but themselves decides when a new record is finished. Their 14th album is being recorded as we write, but there is no release date, and as Neil Fallon himself puts it: “We know that it’ll be alright.”
CLUTCH has toured almost non-stop since 1991 and is known for building a new setlist every night instead of running the same show for an entire tour. They have visited COPENHELL twice before, in 2019 and again in 2023, and both times they delivered the heavy goods. We look forward to seeing them again in 2027!
