BRUTUS

Three people and one of the biggest sounds you can find in modern heavy music. Belgium’s BRUTUS has turned their combination of the fragile and the all-destroying into an art form in their captivating, heavy music.

The trio was formed in Leuven in 2013 and consists of Stefanie Mannaerts on drums and vocals, Stijn Vanhoegaerden on guitar and Peter Mulders on bass. Yes, you read that right: the singer sits behind the drum kit, and watching Mannaerts pound the skins while singing at full force is an experience in itself!

The sound blends post-hardcore, post-metal and post-rock with songs that build slowly from near-silent passages to overwhelming crescendos. BRUTUS has toured with Chelsea Wolfe, Russian Circles and Thrice and played Deftones’ own festival, Dia de los Deftones. In 2023, they played Roadburn, Rock am Ring, Download, Pinkpop and COPENHELL, and now they return to Refshaleøen to knock the wind out of us once again.
